Funeral services for Abad R. "Anthony" Terronez, 86, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 AM Saturday at Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis, IL. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00PM Friday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 6:30PM. Mr. Terronez died Monday, November 23, 2009 at his home surrounded by family. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice. Tony was born November 14, 1923 in Moline, IL, the son of Philipe and Albina (Rivera) Terronez. He served in the US Air Force during WWII. He married Celia Vroman in February of 1946. She died in December of 1951. He later married Florence Vallejo December 1, 1956 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Des Moines, IA. He had worked as an Architectural Engineer for Deere & Co, retiring in 1982 after 35 years of service. He had volunteered for many organizations including Meals on Wheels and the Mississippi Valley Blood Center. He had been an avid golfer, he swam at the Moline YMCA twice a week for many years, and was a Mexican American Softball Association Hall of Fame Inductee. Survivors include his wife Florence Terronez of East Moline; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Dave Bradley of Oregon, Toni and Larry Stenger of Colona, IL, Carole Davis of California, Patty and Joe Vrankin of Naperville, IL; sons, Phil Terronez of Cedar Rapids, IA, Tony Terronez of East Moline; 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, sisters and brother-in-law, Alice Gamino of Silvis, Lupe Terronez of Chicago, Cecilia and Don Raischel of Moline;brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Rose Terronez of Moline, Albert and Victoria Terronez of East Moline, John Terronez of East Moline; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife, brother, Frank Terronez, nephews, John Terronez Jr., and Vincent Terronez.
