Abbey Jo Shaner , 32, of East Moline, IL, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness, on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at her home in East Moline.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Interment will be at a later date. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 7th, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shelby Showalter for a fund to be established for Abbey's son, Wyatt.

Abbey was born July 1, 1992, in Moline, IL, a daughter of Shelby (Holland) Showalter and Donald Scott Shaner. She graduated from United Township High School, Class of 2010.

She was a phlebotomist at Illini Hospital for many years, and also worked at Advanced Hearing Aid Service.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Wyatt McVey, of East Moline, IL; mother and stepfather, Shelby and Todd Showalter, East Moline; father, Donald Scott Shaner, Hemphill, TX; sisters, Ashley (Jeremy) Payne, Moline, IL, and Amanda (Ryan) Rice, Davenport, IA; nephew, Lucas Rice; nieces, Harper Rice and Adalyn Payne; maternal grandparents, Diane (Gabriel) Lopez, East Moline, and Herbert Holland, East Moline; "favorite uncle", Brian Lopez, Silvis, IL; numerous aunts, uncles, and other family; and her beloved pets, "Finley" and "Tom".

Abbey was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandmother, G.G. Wolfgram; paternal grandparents, Donald Eugene "Gene" Shaner and Ellen Joanne Shaner; and uncle, Paul Hamilton.
