Obituary

Adolfo Rangel, 91, East Moline, passed away on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at his home, with his children at his side. Funeral services are 10 AM Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Colona. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is 3-7 PM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, with a rosary recited at 2PM. Memorials may be made to the family. Adolfo was born on September 9, 1926 in Cotulla, TX, the son of Jose and Antonia (Velazquez) Rangel. He married Santos Elizalde on September 27, 1950 in Mexico. She died April 14, 2015. As a young man he worked on the family farm and later as a migrant worker. He was employed by John Deere Foundry and retired from there in the mid 80's. Adolfo enjoyed gardening, listening to music, dancing and was a Chicago Cubs fan. He loved having family gatherings and being outdoors. Survivors include his children, Maria Rangel (John DeSilva), East Moline, Jose (Lada) Rangel, Colona, Adolfo "George" (Shara) Rangel Jr., Moline, Bertha (Joe) Tapia, Hampton, Norma (Jerry) Montez, East Moline, Rosa Rangel, East Moline, Ruben Rangel, East Moline, Eva (Richard) Lyon, Moline, Antonio Rangel, Overland Park, KS and Roberto Rangel, Moline, 23 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren with one on the way and siblings, Leonardo Rangel, TX, Rosa Contreras, East Moline, Emeterio Rangel, Mexico, and Juan Rangel, TX. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Emilio and siblings, Beatriz Tristan and Geronimo Rangel.
