Adolph Laurick, 98, Moline, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Hope Creek Center, East Moline. Visitation is from 12 Noon until 1 PM at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd,. East Moline. Graveside services are 1:30 PM Monday at Rock Island National Cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. Anyone wishing to attend should be at the funeral home by 1PM Adolph was born August 4, 1919 in East Moline, the son of Charles and Antoinette Laurick. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII, serving in the 58th Field Artillery in Tunis and Sicily where he was captured and held as prisoner of war by the Germans. Adolph married Dorothy McNeill on December 31, 1948. Adolph and Dorothy had two children, Lana and Larry. Adolph was an employee at John Deere Plow Planter in Moline for 31 years, retiring in 1974. In his younger years he loved to swim in the Mississippi, and ice skate at the Riverside Pond, attended all the movies he cared to go to. Adolph and Dorothy were members of the Moline Viking Club, where they enjoyed many nights of dancing together. Adolph was a kind loving father. He would tell everyone leaving his home "Be Careful!". Those left to Cherish his memory are daughter, Lana, grandchildren, Tiffany and Troy and six great grandchildren. Adolph was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Larry, and sisters Stella Jackson and Yula Kravens. The family wants to thank friends, Hope Creek Care Center, for 2 months of excellent care, and Hospice Compassus and Chaplain Roger Carlson for the last year of help, kindness and caring.
