Funeral services for Agnes Rose "Kay" Malik, 90, of Moline, IL, will be 10:00 am Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Agnes died Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA. Agnes was born April 14, 1925, in Cedar Rapids, IA, to Thomas and Albie Kabela Malik. She was a graduate of Davenport High School, received her BA in music education from Marycrest College, and MA in music education from the University of Iowa. She taught music in the East Moline grade schools for 35 years, directing both vocal and band. She taught private lessons in piano, voice, band and baton. She was self employed as a tax preparer and a realtor. Agnes was an accomplished violinist and had played with the Quad City Symphony Orchestra. She also sang in various choirs and played piano for various organizations. She funded the Agnes Rose Music Scholarship at St. Ambrose University for worthy music students and was a member of St. Ambrose University Ambassador Club. She was a life member of the National Education Association, Illinois Education Association, and P.T.A. Agnes was an active member of the East Moline Women's Club, Daughters of Isabella Circle 532, Moline Senior Activity Center, South Moline Township Senior Center, Putnam Museum, Play Crafters, Illini Hospital Auxiliary 500 Club, and the Lucky 9 card club. She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline, Mother of Perpetual Help Circle and St. Monica Circle. Agnes loved to play golf, take cruises with her mother and friends, and traveled extensively. She is survived by several cousins, many friends, and her devoted Persian cat, "Prince Velvet".
