Alan D. Miller , 72, of Colona, IL, passed away Thursday August 21, 2025 at MercyOne-Genesis, Silvis, IL.

In accordance with his wishes he will be cremated. A memorial visitation for family and friends will be held 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 30th, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family to be designated later .

Alan was born October 27, 1952, in Moline, IL, a son of Terry H. Miller and Edith (Benson) Miller. He graduated in 1970 from J.D. Darnall High School, Geneseo, IL. He married Dawn Marie Henry on November 3, 1973. They were best friends and soulmates for 52 years.

Alan first worked for the Rock Island Railroad as a diesel mechanic until their closure. He then worked for Van Pelt Drywall as a drywall specialist until his retirement in 2019.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dawn, of Colona; children, Amy (Billy) Davis, Carbon Cliff, IL, and Bryan (Mandy) Miller, Palmetto, FL; grandson, Jacob (Veronica) Miller, Davenport, IA; siblings, Terry (Deb) Miller, Colona, Sheryl (Rick) Fiedler, Colona, Glen (Mary) Miller, East Moline, Dennis Miller, Colona and John (Barb) Henry, Ottumwa, IA; 18 nieces and nephews; and two step grandchildren.

Alan was preceded in death by his father, Terry H. Miller; mother, Edith Kershaw; niece, Shay L. Spencer; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leonard A. and Elly Henry; brothers-in-law, Tony Henry and Jim Henry; and sister-in-law, Cherie Catour.
