Funeral services for Albert J. DeJaegher, 85, East Moline, are 9AM Monday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is 4-8PM Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a combined Catholic Order of Foresters and Church Rosary will be recited at 7:30. Mr. DeJaegher died Friday, December 07, 2007 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Church or to Alleman High School. Al was born September 28, 1922 in Adegem, Belgium. He married Margaret DeCook on June 21, 1947 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. He retired as a production supervisor in 1979, after 37 years from John Deere Harvester, East Moline. He belonged to St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline, Catholic Order of Foresters court 1790, Hand in Hand, the East Moline/Moline Pigeon Club and the East End Boulder's Club. Mr. DeJaegher was the last living member of the '5 Good Guys' who were always working and volunteering at his church and school. Al enjoyed fishing, gardening, pigeon racing and woodworking. Survivors include: his wife of 60 years, Margaret "Cookie"; daughters and sons in law, Roberta and Orville Shields, East Moline, and Becky and Stuart Smith, Bettendorf, sons and daughters-in-law Edward and Debra DeJaegher, Granger, IN, John DeJaegher, Redford, MI and David and Sue DeJaegher, Moline, grandchildren; Joseph DeJaegher, Jennifer Hunt, Jeffrey DeJaegher, Michele DeJaegher, Kelly Fratzke, Kari Weber, Kimberly Shields, Samantha Smith, Mathew Smith, Daniel DeJaegher and Michael DeJaegher, great grandchildren; Jordan, Austin, Elle, Emily, Chloe, and Jacob. He is preceded in death by a brother Gerald and sister Madeline Driessens.
