Funeral services for Albert F. Laethem, 86, East Moline, are 10AM Tuesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7PM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Al died Thursday, April 1, 2010 at his home. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Grace Catholic Academy, East Moline. Albert was born March 29, 1924 in Moline, the son of Camiel and Alice (Bylo) Laethem. He married Margaret Donahue on September 7, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He retired as a communication serviceman from the former Illinois Bell Telephone company in 1982. Al was an avid golfer, enjoyed whittling, painting and was a "jack of all trades". Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Margaret, children and spouses; Paul and Karen Laethem, Moline, Thomas Laethem, Moline and Janet and Dan Herweg, Roselle, IL, five grandchildren 3 great-grandchildren and a sister Clara Thornbloom, Moline.
