Funeral services for Albert L. VanLanduyt, 85, East Moline, are 10 AM Thursday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. Visitation is 4-7PM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 7PM. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Church or to Alzheimer's research. Al died Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Parkview Terrace, East Moline. Albert was born August 21, 1923 in Moline, Illinois, the son of Alphonse and Hortense (DeSchutter) VanLanduyt. Al was very proud of having played on the Moline High Schools Varsity Basketball team that took 2nd in State during the 1942-43 season. He married Elizabeth DeRammalaere December 13, 1945. She died May 10, 1981. Al served in the US Navy during WWII. Mr. VanLanduyt had managed the bar at the East End Boulders Club for 57 years, retiring in 2000. Survivors include his children and spouses: Albert D. and Linda VanLanduyt, Woodbridge, VA, Janice Reese, Rock Island and Judy and Dale Lowry, East Moline, eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and a brother Omer VanLanduyt, Moline.
