Alberta Irene O'Brien, 79, East Moline, died Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline. A memorial service will be 11 AM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Inurnment will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is 1 hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hope Creek Activity Fund. Irene Marquis was born, August 12, 1934 in Ray, IL, the daughter of John B. and Gladys M. (Ford) Marquis. She married Ronald S. O'Brien on December 29, 1954 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on August 26, 1976. Mrs. O'Brien had worked for Bituminous Insurance, driven a school bus for Geneseo Schools and at Davenport Packaging. Alberta enjoyed antiquing, playing bingo, a good meal, and loved her grandchildren. Survivors include her children, Cindy (Robert) Ledbetter, Milan, Gail (Gilbert) Jones, Bettendorf, Connie (Ray) Terronez, East Moline and Gene (Marcella) O'Brien, Hampton, grandchildren, Jonathan O'Brien, Christopher Pappas, Ashley Nader, Chelsea Pappas, Lance Ledbetter, Raymond Terronez, Michael Terronez, Colton O'Brien and Ryleigh O'Brien, great-grandchildren, Nathan Bagwell, Addison Nader and William Tripp, brother, Donald Marquis, Rock Island and sister Catherine Powell, Lincoln, IL.
