Funeral services for Alfonso V. Luna, 73, of Silvis, IL, will be noon Tuesday at Faith Walk World Outreach Center, Silvis, IL. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL, Visitation will be from 10:00AM until noon Tuesday at the church. Mr. Luna died Friday, December 26, 2008 at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be made to the family. Alfonso was born June 22, 1935 in Los Indios, TX, the son of Alfredo and Margarita (Vasquez) Luna. He married Aurora Mireles May 20, 1963, in Matamoros, Mexico. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the John Deere Foundry, East Moline, in 1992. He had been an active member of Faith Walk World Outreach Center, Silvis. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Survivors include: his wife, Aurora Luna of Silvis; daughters, Aurora Morales of East Moline, Dinora Cerda of Silvis; son, Alfonso Luna Jr., of Silvis; grandchildren, Andrew, Michael, Isaac, Martin, Olivia, and Gabriella; his father, Alfredo Luna of Mercedes, TX; sisters and brother-in-law, Amelia and Napoleon Mireles of Mercedes, TX, Alicia, Luna of Mercedes, TX, Amalia Luna of Mercedes, TX; brother, Alvaro Luna of Muscatine, IA. He is preceded in death by his mother, 2 sisters, and a brother.
