Alfred "Al" Hernandez, 73, of Colona, passed away Friday January 10, 2020 at Genesis Medical Center in Silvis.
Cremation has been accorded and there will be no services at this time.
Al was born March 4, 1946 in El Paso, TX, then moved to Phoenix, AZ. He was a truck driver for over 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1968 after 2 tours in Vietnam. Al enjoyed the outdoors, especially picnics and gardening. He also enjoyed collecting. He was a gifted artist, having made countless miniature cars, trucks, furniture, bird houses, and eventually built his own workshop, to create in. He also made a filling station (gas station) to scale.
He is survived by his companion of 35 years, LaDonna Varnum of Colona, daughters: Lorraine and Diane; stepdaughters: Carrie and Candy; 3 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, 1 son, Billy, and 1 step-daughter, LaSandra.
