Funeral services for Alfred "Bernie" Johnson Jr., 91, of Moline, IL, will be 11:00 AM Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Johnson died Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Aledo Health and Rehab, Aledo, IL. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Silvis, where he had been a member. Bernie was born November 30, 1920 in Moline, IL, the son of Alfred and Pearl Johnson Sr. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He married Bertha E. Bonte March 23, 1946 in Moline, IL. She died January 27, 2002. He retired from John Deere Harvester, East Moline, after 30 years of service. He enjoyed camping and outdoor activities with his wife. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Survivors include sons, Herbert (Jolene) Lane, Lake Charles, LA, Barry (Nemesia) Johnson, Moline; grandchildren, Chris (Anita) Lane, Barry B. Johnson, Danielle (Doug) Pilon, and Brandon; 10 great-grandchildren.
