Alice Jean Baayen, 87, of Silvis, Illinois passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2017 at Illini Restorative Care Center. Visitation will be from 9:30 until 11 AM Saturday, with a time of sharing at 11AM at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, Illinois. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Alice was born June 7, 1930, in Eldon, Iowa, daughter of Ruth Wheeler. She was raised by her maternal grand-parents William and Ethel Allman also of Eldon. She graduated from Eldon High School in 1947. She married George Baayen, also of Eldon, Iowa, on March 30, 1952 who proceeded her in death on July 15, 2014. Alice was employed by John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline, Illinois from 1964 until her retirement in 1985. When she retired she was the Salary Compensation Analyst among other duties in the personnel department. She was an active member of the Women of the Moose, Chapter #262 in Moline, Illinois for over 15 years. She served as a Senior Regent for the last 10 years of her service. She received the Star Recorder Degree among other awards. She was also a member of F.O.E. Auxiliary #1839, Silvis, Illinois and served as President of that organization for several years along with her husband who was also a trustee. Survivors include a son, Robert (Jo) Stearns of Osage, Iowa; Step-daughter, Ava Andrews and Step Grandson Arron Snook of St. Joseph, Missouri; two grandsons, Michael (Kristin) Stearns, Sheboygan, Wisconsin; Christopher (Candius) Stearns, Sterling Heights, Michigan; six great grandchildren; Jenna, Anna, and Steven of Fort Worth, Texas; Michael of Sheboygan, Wisconsin; Samuel and David of Sterling Heights, Michigan. In addition to her husband George, she was proceeded in death by her Mother and a Son, Martin Stearns and a Step Grandson, Bradley Williams.
