Obituary

Funeral services for Alice C. Granet, 91, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 AM Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation will be 2:00-5:00 PM Sunday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 5:00PM. Mrs. Granet died Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at Trinity Pathway Hospice, Bettendorf, IA. Alice Schulte was born December 24, 1916 in East Moline the daughter of William and Pauline (Neels) Schulte. She married Frank Granet August 23, 1942 in Colorado Springs, CO. He died May 21, 1982. She had worked at the former Buddy L. Toy Manufacturer, East Moline, and had retired from United Township High School Cafeteria in 1975 after 17 years of service. She had been a lifelong resident of East Moline and Charter member of St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. She was a member of the Ladies Catholic Order of Foresters, 50 and Over Club, 60 + Club, and had been a 50 year member of the St. Anne Benefit Club. She enjoyed crocheting, needlework, sewing, and gardening. Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Richard Michels of Sherrill, IA; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Susan Granet of Rock Island, IL; daughter-in-law, Paula Granet-Ploen (spouse, Henry "Gus"Ploen) of Rock Island; grandchildren (spouse), Ann Hos, of Dubuque, IA, Erin Granet of East Moline, Angela(Adam) Lynch of Rock Island, Jon Granet of Rock Island, Sgt. Jill (Azariah)King of Tacoma, WA, Michael Granet of Rock Island, Lauren Ploen of Rock Island; great grandchildren, Travis Grobstick, Isabel Lynch, and Naomi King; sister, Corine C. Schulte of Silvis, IL; brothers, Walter Schulte of Belize, Central America, Rev. Carl Schulte of Independence, MO. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Sid, and brother, Bill.
