Funeral services for Alice C. Hawkins, 86, East Moline, are 1PM Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is 3-6PM Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a liturgy service will be read at 3PM. Alice died Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus, Silvis. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Alzheimer's Research. Alice Verplaetse was born December 10, 1923 in Moline, the daughter of Maurice and Maria DeGraeve Verplaetse. She graduated from East Moline High School. She married Lindy M Hawkins at St. Mary's Church, East Moline. He died January 13, 1992. Alice had worked at the Rock Island Arsenal during WWII and later at Beling Engineering. She dearly loved her family. Survivors include her sons; Terry Hawkins, East Moline and Jim Hawkins of Hampton, a granddaughter, Arine, and sisters Dorothy DeBo of Rockford, IL and Marion Plogh, Bethleham, GA. She is preceded in death by her husband Lindy and a brother Wally Verplaetse. The family would like to thank the staffs of Rosewood Care Center and Genesis Hospice for their exceptional care.
