Funeral services for Alice L. Stout, 96, of Colona, IL, will be 10:00 AM Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Visitation will be 2-5 Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be 10:00 AM Wednesday in Kearney Cemetery, Kearney, Nebraska. Mrs. Stout died Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at Riverpark Health Care Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association. Alice Lundgren was born May 11, 1909 in Napa, Idaho, the daughter of Alfred and Zoerelda (Waugh) Lundgren. She grew up in Iowa and Nebraska. She married Charles Stout in 1928 in Franklin, Nebraska. Their three sons, Stuart, Charles, and Warren were all born in Nebraska. They moved to Illinois in 1936 to escape the depression and the dust bowl. They were farm hired hands for five years. Both Alice and Charles worked for John Deere Harvester and Plow Planter Works. Charles died June 4, 1968. Alice helped charter the Men & Gals Single Dance Club, Moline. She was an artist, dancer, writer of poetry and short stories. She graduated from Black Hawk College Phi Theta Kappa in 1981 at the age of 72. She had been a resident of Colona for 45 years. She was a member of the Left Bank Art League, East End Club, and the John Deere Lady Retirees Club. Survivors include: daughter, Zoerelda Hawley of West Hollywood, CA; sons and daughter in-law, Stuart and Bonnie Stout of Cleveland, IL, Warren Stout of Colona, IL; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband; son, Charles; parents; a brother; a sister. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.vanhoe.com
