Funeral services for Alice Mae Van Klaveren, 76, Cleveland, IL, are 11 AM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 PM Today(Tuesday) at the funeral home. Alice died Sunday, July 2, 2006 at her home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Colona American Legion or to the Colona Fire Department. Alice King was born March 19, 1930 in Centerville, IA, the daughter of James D. and Pansy (Stroud) King. She married Arthur Van Klaveren, September 20, 1947 in Silvis. He died February 26, 1999. Alice loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed shopping and will be long remembered for the great sense of humor and her laughter. Survivors include her children and spouses; Gloria and Terry Gates, Silvis, Arlene Hawkinson, Davenport, Arthur "Butch" and Lori Van Klaveren, Colona and Michael and Terri Van Klaveren, NC, seven grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren 2 great-great grandchildren and a brother Bill King, Hampton. In addition to her husband, Alice is preceded in death by her mom and dad, brothers Wendell, Willard and James, grandson Chad Van Klaveren and a great-great grandson Julian King.
