Alice M. VanBruwaene, 94, East Moline, died Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Rosewood Care Center, Moline. Funeral services are 11 AM Thursday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Entombment is in St. Mary's Mausoleum. Visitation is 4-7PM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 4PM. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Church, where she was a member, St. Ambrose University or to All Animal Aid, Moline. Alice Windey was born March 7, 1918 in Minneota, MN, the daughter of Kamiel and Lena VandeVelde Windey. She had worked for the East Moline School District until 1990. She married Adolph VanBruwaene on February 14, 1942. He preceded her in death on February 17, 1983. She and her husband were co-owners of the Former Arena Gardens in East Moline. Alice had a great sense of humor, and always enjoyed being with people. Survivors include her daughter Patricia, East Moline and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to losing her husband, she is preceded in death by sisters, Nellie Windey, Mary Windey, Clara Maertens, and Rose Mootz and brothers, Thomas, Carl, John, Art, Hank, Phillip and Alphonse.
