Alice P. Woodward, 87, of Moline, was called home by her Maker on Saturday November 3, 2018. Honoring her wishes, she passed away at home. Funeral services will be 11:00AM Saturday November 10, 2018 at Van Hoe Funeral Home, Ltd., in East Moline. Visitation will be held 5-7PM Friday November 9, 2018 at the funeral home, where a rosary will be recited at 4:30PM. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in East Moline. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Church in Moline to benefit the Religious Education Program. Alice was born April 5, 1931 in Ruiselede, Belgium, a daughter of Adiel and Irma (Vandamme) Verstraete. She married Verne H. Woodward on June 15, 1956 at St. Anne's Parish in East Moline. He preceded her in death on December 20, 1996. Alice retired from Illinois Bell Telephone after 31 years as an operator. Employment she loved because of her many work friends. Alice treasured time with grandsons, Brandon and Aaron, who were truly the light of her life. She enjoyed camping with friends and neighbors, Jumer's Casino, and cards. She was a lifetime parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moline, and the Altar and Rosary Society. Alice was a member of many clubs: Friend's Circle, East End Club, Vikings, Pioneer Club and the Moose Lodge. Survivors include her daughter: Sandra (Carl) West of Moline, son: Michael (Cathy) Woodward of Moline, grandsons: Aaron West of Des Moines, IA, and Brandon West of Moline; nephew: Ken (Pat) DeBlieck of Moline, niece: Marsha (Tom) Minick of Moline; and a sister-in-law: Rosemary Woodward of Rock Island. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Mary, brother Cyriel, 2 nephews: Jim and Greg; 3-brother-in-laws: Glen, Keith, and Frank and a sister-in-law, Helen. The family will miss her greatly and hope to see her again in eternity.
