Obituary

Funeral services for Alma L. Dannenfeldt, 99, of Silvis, IL, formerly of Davenport, IA, will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 27, 2017, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Dannenfeldt died Friday, March 24, 2017, at New Perspective, Silvis. Alma Ritzie was born February 7, 1918, in Davenport, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Ruge Ritzie. She married Lester Dannenfeldt May 13, 1939, in Davenport. She retired from the Rock Island Arsenal in 1973 after 27 years of service. After retirement she moved to Arizona in 1974, living in Prescott, Sun City, Cottonwood and Flagstaff. She returned to Davenport in 1988. Alma had a "green thumb" and could grow anything. She loved taking day trips with friends to plays, shopping, and Chicago Cubs baseball games. She owned property in Flagstaff and would visit each summer to cook and play golf. She started playing golf at age 82. Alma had been a member of the YMCA where she went to water aerobics two times a week until she was 97 years old. Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Dannenfeldt (Gary Sammut), Melbourne, Australia; sons, Allen Dannenfeldt, Phoenix, AZ, and Larry (Judith) Dannenfeldt, Flagstaff, AZ; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester, and brother, Joseph Ritzie, Jr. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ the King Catholic Church, 3209 60th Street, Moline, IL 61265.
