IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alma Beatrice
Wallace
October 24, 1927 – November 5, 2005
ALMA BEATRICE LAVERNE BROWN WALLACE of Silvis, Illinois and formerly of Galva and Aurora, Illinois was called home to meet her Heavenly Father on November 5, 2005 at the age of 78. The Lord called her away as she so desired and that was quickly and while at home. A memorial service will be held for her at Community Christian Church, Moline, Illinois on Saturday, November 12, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Internment of her ashes will be in Riverside Cemetery of Montgomery, Illinois at a later date to be decided by family members. Memorials may be made to CCFA (Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America) Bea, as she was more fondly known, was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and trusted friend. Her family, especially her children and grandchildren, meant the world to her. Those left to keep her memory and her love alive are her daughters and son-in-law, Cherri (Wallace) and Ed Billingsly, and Linda (Wallace) Dixon; her grandchildren, David W. Billingsly, Joshua E. Billingsly, Tara L. Dixon, Tabitha R. Billingsly, Samantha Jo Dixon; her great-granddaughters, Dana A. Billingsly, and Callie L. Nodeen; and a beloved niece, Barbara Ann Guth and her family. Family members who welcomed her to her Heavenly Home were her parents, Emmit Dalton Brown and Lola E. (Wilcoxson) Brown Sanderell; sisters, Ethana Rose Springer, Stella Jessalie Brown, and Leeta Pearl Michael; brothers Buford Lanier, Clinton Brown, and Dewey Brown; and husband, Kenneth W. Wallace. She was born in Cardwell Missouri on October 24, 1927 and lived her childhood years in various communities of Missouri, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Alabama. As a teenager Bea moved to Illinois with her mother and lived out her adulthood in the cities of Aurora, Galva, and Silvis. The words "Hard Work" were not foreign to Alma, and an employer could not have a harder or more conscientious employee than Bea Wallace. From the cotton fields in the South to the factories of the North, she worked diligently and for many years. While living in Aurora, she worked for various small businesses and for the Form-Fit company. During her years spent in Galva she worked for the Galva Creamery, Al's Dairy (a.k.a. B & M Dairy), the Lily-Tulip Company, the Galva Foundry, and the Kewanee Walworth Foundry. Her final work years were spent at International Harvester, East Moline plant and then at Norcross/Servus Rubber, Rock Island from which she retired in the 90"s. Alma was a former member of the Galva Grace United Methodist Church, UAW Local #1304, and United Steelworkers Local #215. Beside working, she enjoyed baking, canning, preserving, gardening, dancing, attending family gatherings, and just spending time with her children and grandchildren. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.vanhoe.com. She will be greatly missed by all those she left behind.
