Funeral services for Alta E. Van Thorre, 97, a lifelong resident of East Moline, IL, will be 11 AM Friday, January 10, 2025, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Friday. Entombment will be in Rock Island National Cemetery.

Alta passed away Thursday, January 2, 2025, at her home (Park Vista).

Alta Dumolien was born December 14, 1927, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Frank (Frenchy) and Gladys (Decausemaker) Dumolien. She married Robert A. Van Thorre May 10, 1947, in East Moline. He passed away October 25, 2009.

Alta retired from the Eagles Food Store, Moline, after 27 years of service.

Survivors include her children, Anita Knopp, Brunswick, ME, Margo Wright (Skeet Seams) Hillsdale, IL, Jeffery Van Thorre, East Moline, Douglas (Candy) Van Thorre, Richfield, MN, and Bradley (Rosanne) Van Thorre, Oak Park, IL; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren, and one on the way; and her sister, Donna Udehn, Moline.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bob.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to St. Anne Catholic Church, where she had been a lifelong member.
