Funeral services for Alva "Al" Brummitt, 90, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00AM Saturday at Homewood Evangelical Free Church, Moline, IL. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00-6:00PM Friday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Mr. Brummitt died Tuesday, September, 25, 2012 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to Homewood Evangelical Free Church. Al was born January 6, 1922 in Pollock, MO, the son of James and Lillie Smith Brummitt. He served in the US Army during WWII. He married Marjorie Bear August 26, 1945 in Pollock. He retired from the Rock Island Arsenal, after 27 years of service. He had also worked at the former Moline Sears Store, had been a Realtor for Century 21, and had been the custodian at Homewood Evangelical Free Church for 20 years. He had been an active member at Homewood and enjoyed gardening. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Marjorie Brummitt, East Moline, daughters, Melinda Wayland, Bettendorf, IA, and Sharon (Rodney) Moore, Jonesville, MI; sons, Don (Phyllis) Brummitt Fort Madison, IA, and David (Laura) Brummitt Bettendorf; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, John Brummitt, Lemons, MO.
