Funeral services for Alvin J Wildermuth, 89, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00AM Tuesday at Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be 3:00-5:00PM Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Mr. Wildermuth died Friday July 2, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Memorial may be made to Christ United Methodist Church or the East Moline American Legion Post 227 . Alvin was born February 11, 1921 in Carbon Cliff, IL, the son of John and Anna Kleinau Wildermuth. He attended McKinley School East Moline and United Township High School East Moline. He married Jennie Marie Lewis July 20 1940 in Davenport, IA. He later married Dora (Dix) Chapman October 20, 1948. She died in 1987. He later remarried Jennie Marie December 5, 1987 in Davenport. She died March 14, 2006. He served in the US Army during WWII, where he received several awards including 2 Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He had worked 17 years for John Deere Harvester, East Moline and 21 years for Maricopa By Products, Phoenix, AZ, where he retired in 1983. He had been a member of Christ United Methodist Church East Moline and the Methodist Men Club CUMC - Honorary Trustee. He had been a life member of both the East Moline American Legion Post 227 and the East Moline Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2056. Survivors include his daughter, Karen Ells of Bettendorf, IA, son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Ellie Wildermuth of Rock Island, IL; 7 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Wanda Wildermuth of IL and Suzy Lewis of AZ. He is proceeded in death by his parents, 2 wives, son, Keith Wildermuth; grandson, Randy Ells, sisters, Eva Wildermuth, Bernice Thorngren, Fern Lovejoy, and Arline Smith; brother, Leonard Wildermuth.
