Funeral services for Alvina "Terry" Tafolla, 83, of Colona House, East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 AM. Wednesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Davenport, IA. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Tafolla died Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Hope Creek Care Center Activity Fund. Alvina Garza was born November 10, 1928 in Davenport, IA, the daughter of Philip and Gertrude Sullivan Garza. She married Joe Gomez in 1949. He died May 28, 1951 in active duty during the Korean Conflict. She was very proud of her Mexican heritage and had been involved in ownership of a few Mexican restaurants over the years. Three things defined Terry: music, cooking, and dancing. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Diaz, East Moline; son, Harry (Paula) Sandoval, Davenport; grandchildren; Christina (Armando) Hernandez, Angie Hurtado, John (Toni) Diaz, Shauna (Todd) Fah, and Amanda Osborne; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Isabel Fessenden, Etiwanda, CA, Ramona Thomas, Reno, NV, Rose Howard, Yucca Valley, CA, and Mary Lou (Jack) Fritz, Rock Island; brothers, Phil (Mary) Garza, East Moline and Bill (Cherry) Fritz, Farmers Branch, TX; and many loyal friends.
