Funeral services for Andre J. DeMeulemeester, 87, of East Moline, IL, will be 11:00AM Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00PM Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 6:30PM. Mr. DeMeulemeester died Monday, July 6, 2009 at home, surrounded by his family. Memorials may be made to Mother Theresa's Missionaries of Charity, Trinity Pathway Hospice, or for masses. Mr. DeMeulemeester was born October 10, 1921 in Tielt, Belgium the son of Remi and Anna (Popelier) DeMeulemeester. He married Goldie Van Oost January 21, 1958 in Belgium. He retired in 1983 from John Deere Harvester, East Moline, after 27 years of service. He enjoyed gardening, especially his flowers. For the last 15 years, he made rosaries from "sunup till sundown." He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Goldie DeMeulemeester of East Moline; daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Tony Helmers of Waynesville, MO; sons and daughter-in-law, Mark and Ali DeMeulemeester of Port Byron, IL, Rev. Patrick DeMeulemeester of Granville, IL, John DeMeulemeester of Dearborn, MI; grandchildren, Andrew DeMeulemeester, Sarah Helmers, and Brandon Helmers; sister and brother-in-law, Andrea DeMeulemeester and Frans DeBaets of Belgium; brother and sister-in-law, Michel DeMeulemeester and Laura Van Oost of Belgium; special friend, Liz Desseyn of East Moline.
