Andrew J. Kopatich, 85, East Moline, died Saturday, March 2, 2013 at his home. Funeral services are 10 AM Thursday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline, where he was a member. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors. Visitation is 4-6PM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. A memorial fund has been established. Andrew was born on November 29, 1927 in Numa, IA, the son of Phillip and Albina (Padavich) Kopatich. He served in the US Army during WWII. He spent a time in the Philippines, with his own PT Boat and Crew. He married Lois Meeks on January 10, 1948 in Rock Island. She died on October 23, 2002. Mr. Kopatich was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 150 as a construction worker. He enjoyed NASCAR, the Chicago Bears and going to the local casinos. He was very handy and was always tinkering or working on a project. Survivors include his children (spouses) Andrew P. (Mary Anne) Kopatich, Bettendorf, Kathryn Kopatich, East Moline, Steven (Velma) Kopatich, Rapids City, IL and David (Dawn) Kopatich, Mesa, AZ, fourteen grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and his brother, Raymond (Betty) Kopatich, East Moline. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Violet.
