Angeline DeSutter was born on November 24, 1917 in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Maurice and Mary Grymonprez DeSutter. She attended St. Mary's High School in East Moline. In the 1940's she was employed at International Harvester. Angeline married John R. Banks on October 15, 1949 at St. John's Church in Woodhull. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. The couple lived in Cleveland, Illinois until just before John passed away on November 30, 2000. Angeline was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Altar & Rosary society for over 50 years - and had a special love of saying the rosary daily. During her later years in Ann Arbor, she loved to attend the weekly St. Thomas Aquinas communion services at Sunrise, and to take the Sunrise bus with other residents over to St. Francis Church on Sunday mornings. She enjoyed community volunteer work, senior citizen's groups, gardening and bowling. Angeline was a caring "grandmother" to many Youth for Understanding high school exchange students - including Theresa, Anke and Isabell from Germany, Anna from Finland, Tamara from Bosnia, Elle-Mall from Estonia, Sylvia from Brazil, Josie from Chile, and Richard and Jessie from China. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Vickie and Jeff Gaynor and step-granddaughter Claire of Ann Arbor, sisters Marcella DeBuysere, Silvis Marian (Jim) Bugos, Alpha and Irene Nelson, Abington, IL and brothers Joseph (MaryAnn) DeSutter, Kewanee, IL Francis (Isabell) DeSutter Middletown, MO and Maurice (Darlene) DeSutter, Jr., Woodhull, IL as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by many devoted Sunrise staff members and her close friend and caregiver, Janet Bensen.
