Funeral services for Ann C. Bystry, 89, East Moline, are 11 AM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is 5-7 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Ann died Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Parkview Terrace, East Moline. A memorial fund has been established. Ann DeMink was born June 18, 1920 in Kewanee, Illinois. She married Don Bystry on March 18, 1942 in Kahoka, MO. He died June 5, 1991. Ann was a certified nurses aid at the Kewanee Public Hospital and worked as a CNA at Oakwood Heath Care Center in Kewanee. She held many memberships including: the Women of the Moose, the East End Social Club, the Friends Circle Club, the Silvis Eagles, the Center for Belgian Culture and was a former member of the Flemish American Club in Kewanee. Ann was fondly known at the Hat Lady of Colona House, East Moline. Survivors include a daughter Joan Bystry of Wisconsin, several grandchildren and great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and a special friend Donna Cassidy of Colona. She is preceded in death by her son Larry and brothers; Ray, Morris and Leo.
