Choate
October 12, 1948 – February 22, 2011
A Celebration of Life Service for Ann Marie Choate, 62, East Moline, will be 10AM Monday, February 28, 2011 at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, Illinois. Visitation is 2-5PM Sunday at funeral home. Ann died at her home on February 22, 2011 after a courageous fight with cancer, with her husband and family there to support her. In lieu of flowers and statuary, memorials may be made to the Beacon of Hope Hospice. Ann was born October 12, 1948 in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Ralph "Mike" and Marjorie (Larson) Holtschlag. She married Robert Choate on March 25, 1983. Her most rewarding achievement besides her children was her nursing career. She loved taking care of people and especially all her patients. Working for Dr. Short was some of her most rewarding years. She is survived by her husband of 27 years Robert "Bob" Choate, her best friend, caregiver and protector. Children and spouses Michael (Mary) O'Neil of Colorado, Steve (Kari) Meersman of Moline, Laura Griffith, Moline, Bonnie Dreifurst, Moline, and Liz, LeAnn and Amy Choate all of Florida, 19 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and puppies Mandy and Ellie Mae. Special thanks and love to Dr. Nancy Short for being her friend and mentor, to Bob for taking care of Ann when she needed him most, and to Jackie and Emily of Beacon of Hope for the friendship and care.
