Obituary

Anna Mae Sharrar, 88, East Moline, went to be with the Lord Friday, October 14, 2011 at St. Anthony's Continuing Care Center, Rock Island. Funeral services are 10 AM Tuesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial is at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7PM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 4PM. Memorials may be made to St. Anne's Catholic Church. Anna Mae Gremonprez was born May 4, 1923 in Denison, IA. She was the fourth daughter born to Charles and Frances (DeMay) Gremonprez. She attended St. Rose of Lima School in Denison until 1939 when her family moved to East Moline. Anna was a student at UTHS until her mother's health required her to leave school and care for her. She worked at the former Baecke's Dry Goods in East Moline and later for Illinois Bell Telephone where she was a telephone operator. She met her husband Joseph Sharrar in 1943, and when he returned from the service in December of 1945 they made plans and were married on January 29, 1946 at St. Mary's Church, East Moline. When her children were grown Anna became the head of housekeeping at Friendship Manor in Rock Island, she held that position until she retired in 1984. She is survived by her husband Joseph who resides at St. Anthony's Rock Island, a sister Nell Peterson of Denison IA, two children, Diane Stilwell Tipton IA and Mark Sharrar York PA. Anna Mae has five grandchildren and nine great grand children. Her grandchildren are Joseph Nosler, Christina Tygrett, Bonnie Mathias, all who live in the vicinity of the Quad Cities along with Tyler and Justin Sharrar of York PA. Anna Mae was a wonderful Mother and wife and a person who was devoted to her faith her entire life. She was kind and gentle to all, she will be deeply missed by her family and friends
