Annabelle Smith, 89, of Silvis, IL, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 PM Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to St. Anne Catholic Church.

Annabelle Rockwell was born December 21, 1934, in Moline, IL, the fifth of seven children to Harry and Loretta Rodgers Rockwell. Annabelle attended St. Anne's and Alleman High School. Her first job was working at the Old Mill Ice Cream Store which she talked of many times. She started working at the Rock Island Lines Railroad after High School. She retired from Chrome Crankshaft that had bought out the Rock Island Lines. She married Don Smith February 6, 1954, in Silvis. He passed away October 8, 2014.

Annabelle was proud of her Irish Heritage and enjoyed listening to Irish music. She and her siblings had such a deep loving bond between them that you could say they were all "Best Friends." A phone call or a visit from her children and grand-kids was priceless to her.

Survivors include her children, Donald (Donna) Smith, Davenport, IA, Annette (August) DeWilde, Green Bay, WI, David (Nancy) Smith, Silvis, and Kathy Smith, Silvis; grandchildren, Jamie (Kelly) Smith, Chad Smith, Adam (Dena) Wittenberg, Andrew (Gil) Cortes-DeWilde, Alissa DeWilde (Matthew Scheider), Nicholas (Oscar) Smith, Allie Smith (Austin Szymczak), Annie (Cal) Horstmeirer, Landen Escontrias (Autumn Hansen), Jordan Escontrias (Abbey Dickens), Aaron Escontrias (Jessica Barten); 14 great grandchildren and one on the way; siblings, Bob (Sue) Rockwell, Silvis, and Marian Mitchell, Moline; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Verna (George) May, Dick (Joanne) Rockwell, Raymond (Marlou) Rockwell, Myrtle (Bob) Yodts; and brother-in-law, John Mitchell.

She is now with her husband Don, the love of her life.

A heartfelt thank you to the Genesis Hospice Team, Mercedes Cruz for the love and care that you gave our mother, and Carol for all her special "doing her hair house calls."
