Annis Lucile Finnessy, 89, of East Moline, IL, a faithful servant of the Lord, devoted wife for 67 years and loving mother of 7, died June 11, 2006. A Funeral Mass will be Thursday June 15, 2006 at 10:00AM at Christ the King Catholic Church in Moline. Burial will be following services at St Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline, IL. Friends may call from 5:00 - 7:30 PM at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd, East Moline, on Wednesday June 14, 2006, where a liturgy service will be held at 7:00PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Pathway Hospice or Christ the King Catholic Church. She was born February 21, 1917 in Vinton, IA to Horace and Bessie (Snyder) Shaw. She married Austin Edward Finnessy on February 6, 1937 and together they celebrated 67 years of joyous matrimony. Her loving husband preceded her in death in 2004. To this marriage was born seven children. These include John Austin, deceased, (Marge) Finnessy of South Bend, IN, Robert (Brenda) Finnessy of Columbus OH, Mary (Michael) Hendricks of East Moline, James (Judy) Finnessy of Davenport, IA, Thomas (Louise) Finnessy of Cincinnati, OH, Kathleen, deceased, (Dana) Sels of East Moline, and Richard (Debra) Finnessy of Beaver Dam, WI. She was an alumna of Vinton High School in Vinton. Iowa and attended Iowa State Teachers College where she received her teaching certificate. After raising her family, Lucile worked for Montgomery Ward and became Store Manager for several years in the Chicago area. She enjoyed worldwide traveling with her husband. Her most enjoyable times were spent being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her cooking was always the highlight of a visit. Her motivational discussions resulted in College Degrees for all 7 children and all 23 grandchildren. She was proud of this accomplishment and continued to discuss the importance of education with her great-grandchildren. She did volunteer work for Christ the King Catholic Church in Moline. Finnessy, James Finnessy, Emily Finnessy, Laurie (Mike) Asche, Jill Finnessy, Thomas Finnessy, Andrew Sels, Sarah Sels, Ryan Finnessy, David Finnessy, and Kathleen Finnessy; 16 great-grandchildren, Austin Finnessy, Margaret Finnessy, Elissa Finnessy, Emma Hofman, Brett Collins, Katie Collins, Elizabeth Finnessy, Brooke Finnessy, Kiera Finnessy, Jessica Finnessy, Logan Dannenfeldt, Josh Beghtol, Mary Grace Armbrust, Eli Kugler, Ana Kugler, and Marquis Hendricks,; brother, Russell Shaw of Garwin, IA,.
