Funeral services for Archie Bert,75 of Rock Island, are 10 AM Monday December 29, 2008 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Inurnment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is 2-5PM Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at the conclusion of the visitation. Archie died December 24, 2008 at the home of his daughter Denise Beck in Moline, surrounded by his family. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice. Archie was born January 8, 1933 in Belgique, Missouri, the son of Alphonse and Johanna (DePauw) Bert. He married Elaine Hunt on July 18, 1953 at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. They were happily married for 55 years. Archie retired as a maintenance supervisor from John Deere Harvester, East Moline in 1985. He was a proud grandpa and loved to spoil and tease the grandkids. He loved camping, woodworking and rebuilding computers. He was a member of the East End Bolders Club, Moline and served as a board member of the Molokai Community in Leesburg, FL. Archie served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Survivors include his children and spouses: Dennis and Denise Bert of Rock Island, Denise "Nese" and Tim Beck of Moline, Douglas and Donna Bert of Milan, Dale and Kat Bert of Bettendorf, and Deanna "DeDe" and Mike Warpehoski, Moline, grandchildren: Justin Beck, Douglas Bert Jr., Darci (Mrs. Aaron) Slager, Michelle Bert, Keith Beck, Deric Bert, Zack Bert, Nick Bert, Nicole Dahl, Kyle Beck, Jake Dahl, McKenzie Bert and Rylee Warpehoski, a great grandson Ian Beck, three step grandchildren and 13 step great grandchildren, and a brother Elmer Bert of St. Genevieve, MO and very dear friend Frank Deopere of Springfield, IL. He is preceded in death by his wife Elaine who died August 23, 2008, son Kenneth, granddaughter Jessica and brothers and sisters; Herman, Joe, Lonnie, Annie, Margaret, LeRoy and Dorothy.
