Funeral services for Archie W. Gaumer, 90, of Port Byron, IL, will be noon thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL . Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Thursday. Mr. Gaumer died Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Port Byron, where he had been a member. Archie was born July 25, 1922 in Moline, IL, the son of Charles and Eleanora Carlson Gaumer. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Ferne Griffin October 5, 1947 in East Moline. He had been a tool and die maker at John Deere Harvester, East Moline, retiring in 1983 after 42 years of service. He enjoyed the outdoors, whether he was golfing, hunting, fishing, tending to his garden or doing yard work. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, who adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Ferne Gaumer, Port Byron; daughter, Kathy (Tony) Frankowiak, Silvis, IL; grandchildren, Kristin Keaschall and Greg (Sara) Frankowiak; great grandchildren, Tyler and Jaren Frankowiak.
