Funeral services for Archiel (Archie) Roets, 94, formerly of East Moline,IL, and Naples, FL, are 1 PM Wednesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors. Visitation is 4-6 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the East Moline Police Benevolent Association. Archie died on October 14, 2014 in Boulder, CO. Archiel John Roets was born in East Moline on February 6, 1920 to Julius and Clementina Somtels Roets. He served in the Pacific Theater during WWII in the U.S. Army. He married Alice Van Bell in 1946. He later married Mary Peterson in 1973. Archie was a member of the East Moline Police Force and became Chief in 1964 and served in that capacity until he retired in 1973. Upon retirement he worked as Security and Safety Manager at the Quad City International Airport. He is survived by his beloved wife Mary, Boulder, CO; sons Greg (Shari) Roets, Ft. Calhoun, NE, and Estero, FL, Richard (Diane) Van Bell, East Moline and Naples, FL, and Carole Peterson(Allen) Weisheit, Superior, CO; six grandchildren, John Roets, Amber (Chris) Thomas, Marc (Debbie) Van Bell, Chad (Jodi) Van Bell, Kyle (Kim) Hall and Chloe Delgado; seven great grandchildren, Amelia & Nolan Thomas, Caroline, Sarah, Jenna & Benjamin Van Bell and Charlotte Hall. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters.
