Arlin L. Hicks, 90, of Silvis, IL, passed away Thursday January 12, 2023 at his home.

Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2023 at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Arlin was born July 17, 1932 in Morgan, Missouri, a son of Elmer and Ada Pearl Evans Hicks. He married Avis Jean Stickrod on January 5, 1952 in Rock Island. She preceded him in death on May 29, 2014.

Arlin moved to Illinois at the age of 15. He worked for John Deere Harvester for over 37 years. He was chairman of the shop committeemen for U.A.W., Local 865.

He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and working with coondogs and birddogs. He was a lifetime St. Louis Cardinal fan and Green Bay Packer fan.

Surviving are his children, Darrell (Carolyn) Hicks, Nolensville, TN, Dixie Hicks, Silvis, Dell Hicks, East Moline and Derrick (Jeanine) Hicks, Moline; grandchildren, Dennis J. Kyser II (Heather), Jeannie M. (Dan) Horras, Ryan P. (Amanda) Wessels, Erin R. Hicks, Brett A. Hicks, Whitney Jean Hicks, Chris R. Hicks, Candy A. (Dan) Long and John D. (Ashley) Hicks; 22 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and additional family.

Arlin was preceded in death by his wife; grandson, Derrick Jr. Hicks; great-grandson, Nathan Wessels; parents; and 12 brothers and sisters, Racie, Ronald, Lloyd, Norman, Earl, Freddie, Archie, Hershal, William, Hershie Williams and twins, Maxine Buttram and Ivazine Buttram.
