Funeral services for Art D. Kirklin, 67, of Silvis, IL, will be 10:30 AM Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00PM Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline and 9:30 until service time at the church on Tuesday. Mr. Kirklin died October 21, 2011 at his home. Memorials may be made to the family. Art was born March 23, 1944 in Moline, IL, the son of Arthur E. and Genevieve Tice Kirklin. He married Cindy (Clark)Johnson June 20, 1987 in East Moline. He retired from John Deere Harvester, East Moline, after many years of service. He had been an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where he had served on the Board of Parish Ministry, had been Head Usher, and volunteered in the food pantry. He was a member of the Lutheran Brotherhood. He coached Babe Ruth and had been past President of his Pic League. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and stock car racing with Hershal Roberts. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Cindy, daughter, Julie (Scott) Short of Prophetstown, IL; sons, Steve (Geri) Kirklin of Normal, IL, Brian Kirklin, of Roseville, IL, Shawn Johnson of Clive, IA; 6 grandchildren; sister, Sharon Kirklin of Moline, IL; 12 nieces and nephews.
