Arthur A "Art" Harker Jr., East Moline, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015 at Genesis Medical Center Illini Campus, Silvis. Funeral services are 10:30 AM Friday, at First Presbyterian Church, East Moline. Burial is in Parkview Cemetery, Peoria, IL. Visitation is 5-7 PM Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, East Moline, where he was a member. Art was born February 11, 1919 in Peoria, IL, the son of Arthur and Marie (Naylor) Harker Sr. He married Betty L. Wilson on March 14, 1942 in Peoria. Betty died January 10, 2011. Art worked 10 years for Metropolitan Life Insurance of Peoria. In 1948 he went to work for General Foods Corporation and was transferred to the Quad Cities as an area manager. He retired on March 1, 1978. He and his wife moved to Ft. Collins, CO and lived for several years. He was an active member of his church, serving as an elder, Sunday School superintendent and financial secretary for several years. Art was a 60 year member of the Illinois Masonic Lodge 263 and TPA-Post E both of Peoria. Survivors include his children, Suzanne (Don) Turner, Fort Collins, CO, and Sally (Richard) Abraham, East Moline, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, grandson Michael, and sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Dale Butler.
