Audrey A.C. Barnes, 95, Silvis, passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Visitation is 4-6 PM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Graveside services are 10 AM Thursday at Rock Island National Cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. Anyone wishing to attend should meet at Van Hoe Funeral Home by 9:30 AM to travel in procession.

AC was born July 14, 1926 in Powersville, MO, the son of Aubrey C. and Nellie (Putnam) Barnes. After graduation from high school he was drafted into the US Navy to fight in WWII and was recalled to active duty to the Korean Conflict. He married June Brewer on October 1, 1948 in Davenport. She died June 16, 2010. AC retired as a Locomotive Engineer from the former Rock Island Lines. In retirement he ran cars for Key Auto, Moline. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. AC could fix anything, always having a project to tinker on in the garage.

Survivors include his children; Larry (Jan) Springhill, TN, Danny (Sharon) Barnes, East Moline, and Dennis Barnes (Juli), East Moline, grandchildren; Mickey, Brian, Shane, Matt, Sam, Jake, Ashley, Brandon, and Eric, numerous great-grandchildren, and brothers, Charles Harper, Moline and Jess Harper, Haines City, FL.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, grandsons, Greg Durbin and Cody Barnes, son John Barnes, and siblings, Marie Sharp, Paul Barnes and Kate Mudd.
