Funeral services for August G. Gomez, 82, East Moline, are 10 AM Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. Entombment is in St. Mary's Mausoleum. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 PM Today at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 PM. The Lord called August home, Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island to be with is wife of 60 years, Betty. Memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation. August was born September 5, 1923, in Moline, the son of Martin M. and Candelaria (Guerrero) Gomez Sr. He married Betty J. Sisson November 3, 1943 in Moline. She died March 6, 2004. August retired in 1982 from John Deere Foundry after 36 years. He was a member of the U.A.W local 81 and enjoyed travelling, watching sports on TV and the WWF. His grandchildren truly brought him happiness. Survivors include his children and spouses Dan and LeaAnn Gomez, Colona, Bill and Val Gomez, Orion, Tony and Linda Gomez, Silvis and Judy and Frank Ammerman, San Angelo, TX, eleven grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, and sisters Rose Gomez, Silvis, Mary Riordan, Moline and Jenny Cortez, Hampton. His wife, parents, sisters Soledad Gomez, and Amelia Hernandez and brothers Frank, Samuel, Martin, Emanuel and John preceded him in death.
