Avis J. Hicks, 79, Moline, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at her home. Funeral services are 10 AM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7PM Monday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established. Avis was born on September 13, 1934 in Rock Island, IL, the daughter of Lyle and Elizabeth Ruth McNall Stickrod. She married Arlin Hicks on January 5, 1952 in Rock Island. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was an awesome homemaker and cook and was well known for her fried chicken and fish. Avis also loved country music, dancing, and was a long time Cub fan. Survivors include her husband Arlin, children, Darrell (Carolyn) Hicks, Nolensville, TN, Dixie Hicks, Moline, Dell (Susie) Hicks, East Moline and Derrick (Jeanine) Hicks, Silvis, grandchildren: Dennis J. Kyser II, Jeannie M.Verstraete, Ryan P. Wessels, Erin R. Hicks, Brett A. Hicks, Whitney Jean Hicks, Chris R. Hicks, Candy A. Eggert and John D. Hicks., 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild and siblings, Arlene Duff, Moline, IL., Peggy Dean, Silvis, IL, and Dennis Brownfield, LeClaire, IA.
