Barbara J. Buchen, 80, of East Moline, IL, died Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Genesis Medical Center, Silvis, IL. Visitation will be 2:00-5:00PM Sunday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Private funeral services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association. Barbara Nelson was born September 16, 1933, in Peoria, IL, the daughter of Lyle and Lucille O'Halloran Nelson. She married Gerald "Gerry" Buchen January 17, 1954 in Peoria. Barbara had been a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, bowling, and was a Chicago Cubs Fan. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Gerry Buchen, East Moline; daughters, Susie (Tom) Snyder, Moline, IL, Julie (Rory) Mauch, South Bend, IN, and Laurie (Bill) Brasche, Colona, IL; sons, Mike (Carol) Buchen, Aurora, CO, and John Buchen, Lebanon, IN; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Pat Putnam, Minonk, IL.
