Funeral services for Barbara Marie Polaschek, 75, East Moline, IL, are 10 AM Friday at St Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7PM Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 PM, and an Alter and Rosary Society Circle 3 Rosary at 7PM. Mrs. Polaschek died Monday, August 06, 2007 at Trinity Pathway Hospice at Terrace Park, Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to Alleman High School, Rock Island, IL or to Quad City Right to Life. Barbara VandeVoorde was born March 24, 1932 in Moline, the daughter of Julius and Celina (Gremonprez) VandeVoorde. She was educated by the Visitation Sisters at the Villa De Chantel, Rock Island. Barbara was in the first graduating class of Alleman High School, Rock Island. She married David A. Polaschek on September 9, 1955 at St. Mary's Church, East Moline. Barb was an active member of St. Mary's, the former St. Mary's School and at Alleman High School. She was a founding member and served on the Board of the QC Right to Life. She was totally selfless and always put her family first. Barb enjoyed yard work, and quilting. She had also worked as a poll watcher and was a member of the Rock Island County Republican Women. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, David, children and spouses Mary and Voris Davis, Birmingham, AL, Mike, Davenport, IA Joseph and Elizabeth, Davenport, IA and Mark and Dr. Karla, East Moline, and grandchildren; Amy, Patrick, Jack and David. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers Joseph and Charles.
