Obituary

Funeral services for Bernard Loyd Greeno, 99, of Silvis, IL, will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Moline Riverside Cemetery, Moline, IL. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00PM Tuesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Mr. Greeno died Saturday, June 6, 2009 at his home. Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline. Mr. Greeno was born August 26, 1909 in Hand County, SD, the son of John and Florence (Gorber) Greeno. He married Reva Monteith in 1933. They moved to Illinois in 1937. She died in 1949. He later married Blanch Bloomberg in 1950. She died in 1963. He later married Helen Whittenborn in 1964. She died in 1989. He later married Laura Esther Bloomer in 1990. She died in 2001. In his earlier years he had worked for International Harvester and Skelly Oil Company. He retired from Williams & White, Moline, September 1, 1974, after 21 years of service. He had managed Riverdale Happy Mixers for 10 years and had helped with Meals on Wheels for 5 years. He had been an active member of Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline. Mr. Greeno had a wonderful voice and had sung at his church and many other area churches and Retirement Centers throughout the years. Survivors include, sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Dian Greeno of Colona, IL, Richard and Sally Greeno of Nashville, IN; stepsons and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sharon Bloomberg of Colona, IL, Dale Whittenborn of Westwood, Kansas; stepdaughters and son-in-law, Bonnie and Chet Wheeler Abingdon, IL, Judy Clark of Port Byron, IL, stepdaughter-in-law, Nancy Brown of Keithsburg, IL; 4 grandchildren; many step grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Harold and Sally Kendall, George and Bobbie McCoy, Donna Eechaute, and George Eggrich. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, stepson, Emmett Brown, 2 sisters, and 6 brothers. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.vanhoe.com
