Memorial services for Bernardine C. DeWitte, 80, formerly of Rock Island and Milan, IL, will be 10:30 AM Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline, IL. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Mrs. DeWitte died Friday, January 05, 2007 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis. Bernardine Dugan was born July 11, 1926 in Burlington, IL, the daughter of Elbert P. and Nellie M. (Schulte) Dugan. She married Adolph DeWitte May 1, 1946. He died April 25, 1994. She had been an active member at Sacred Heart, Rock Island and St. Ambrose, Milan, serving as Secretary at Sacred Heart for 20 years. She and her husband moved to Vero Beach, FL in the early 1980's. While in Vero Beach she taught Stained Glass Classes at Vero Beach Adult Education Center and was an avid bingo player. Survivors include: daughters and son-in-law, Julie and Jack Spinello of Coal Valley, IL, Susan and Douglas Walker of Blue Grass, IA; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Elayne DeWitte of Melbourne, FL; 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Rita Daxon of Rock Island, Martha and Earl Kroeger of Rock Island, Helen Polka of Lake Havasu, AZ, Alice Johnson of Chicago, IL, Joanne DeVrieze of East Moline, Pauline and Clark Britton of Wichita, KS; brother and sister-in-law, John and Betty Dugan, Milan; sisters-in-law, Delores Dugan of Milan, Mary DeWitte of Milan. She is preceded in death by her: parents; husband; sisters, Margaret Ann Dugan, Elizabeth "Betty" Ternoey; brothers Paul and Harold Dugan.
