Bernice Collier, 86, of Moline, died Saturday, October 15, 2011, at Trinity Rock Island. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Private committal will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. A memorial fund has been established. Bernice was born June 10, 1925, in Golconda, Ill. She married Gerald Collier on June 10, 1941, in Cape Girardeau, Mo. He died in February of 1979. Bernice had worked at Snelling and Snelling, Spiegel's and retired in 1980 as Department Head of the East Moline Water Department. She enjoyed her membership in the Red Hat Society, and also enjoyed travel and being with family. She was a member of the American Business Woman's Association and sat on the board of the former East Moline Credit Union. Survivors include her children, Sue and J.D. Gorman, Newborn, Ga., and Geri and Rick Freymann, Rock Island; seven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Martie (Harvey) Jack, Silvis, IL, and Bonnie (James) Williamson, Golconda, IL, two half brothers, Daryl (Ruth) Weekly and Dale (Diane)Weekly all of Sugar Grove, IL and a step sister, Gwen Otto, Milan, IL. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Fleeta Barger, her husband, a sister, Lois Rogers, a half sister Bonnie Murphy and a half brother Terry Weekly.
