Funeral services for Bernice E. Rodgers, 83, Moline, are 11 AM Saturday at Christ The King Catholic Church, Moline. Entombment is in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation is 5-8PM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a prayer service will be recited at 5PM. Visitation will also be 10AM until service time at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be made to Christ the King Church, where she was a member. Bernice left her family and friends to be with the Lord on January 11, 2007 at Genesis West Campus, Davenport. She was born May 24, 1923 in Kewanee, IL, the daughter of August and Bessie (Stead) Lippens. She married Elwyn Rodgers, July 26, 1941 at St. Joseph's Church, Kewanee. Together Bernice and Elwyn shared a love that was an inspiration to all. They enjoyed travel and spent many winters in Arizona watching the Cubs spring training. He died on March 3, 2001 just short of their 60th Wedding Anniversary. Bernice was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved people and made friends wherever she went. Bernice had worked at the JC Penney's downtown, Moline and at Sandy's, that later became Hardee's restaurant. Survivors include daughter and very special son-in-law Joyce and Terry "Mike" Taylor, Carbon Cliff and son and daughter-in-law Dr. Bill and Joanne Rodgers, MN, grandchildren and spouses, Misty and Steve Meinig, Orlando, FL, Trent Johnson, New Haven, CT, Chrystine and Tim Haferman, Zumbrota, MN and Rick and Deb Rodgers, Excelsior, MN, great grandsons Cole and Grant Haferman, and a special niece Donna Pobanz, Geneseo. Her husband, 3 sisters and a brother precede her in death.
