Berniece F. "Bert" Niedzwiecki,90, East Moline, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2013 at her home. Funeral services are 1PM Friday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is 3-6PM Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 5:30 PM. Memorials may be made to the Monsignor Cleary Endowment Fund. Bert was born on August 31, 1922 in East Moline, the daughter of Stanley and Berniece (Ciesielski) Smolenski Sr. She married Joseph W. Niedzwiecki on April 10, 1948 at Holy Trinity Church, Moline. He died May 17, 1994. Mrs. Niedzwiecki had worked at John Deere Mallable, the former Buddy L. Toy Company and Giefman's Grocery. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, bowling and playing cards. Survivors include her children, Judy (Brian) Mitton and Alan J. Niedzwiecki, siblings, Sophie V Krajewski and John Smolenski, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Mary Krajewski, Joseph Smolenski, Stanley Smolenski, Anthony Smolenski and 2 infant siblings.
